EU Plans to Install Rooftop Solar On All New Buildings

The European Commission wants half of the bloc’s energy to come from renewables by 2030, according to a copy of the plan called “RepowerEU” cited by the Financial Times. One of the proposals in the proposal is to “introduce an obligation to install rooftop solar installations on all new buildings and all existing buildings with energy performance class D and above (the most energy consuming)”.

According to SolarPower Europe’s “EU Solar Market Outlook 2021-2025” report, 25.9GW of new PV capacity will be connected to the grid in the EU in 2021, an increase of 34% from 19.3GW in 2020, and breaking the record of 21.4GW in a decade .
