French state railway operator SNCF plans to install 1.1 million square meters of solar modules in its train stations by 2030. Developers interested in participating in the SNCF tender for new solar garages have until April 15 to submit project proposals.
SNCF Gares and Connexions, a division of French rail operator SNCF, has announced a letter of intent to deploy solar-powered garages at 156 train stations.
The company hopes to deploy 47 MW of PV capacity by 2025. The tender is part of a plan to install up to 200MW of solar garage capacity by 2030.
The winning bidder in this round of procurement activities will be responsible for the design, investment, construction, operation and maintenance of photovoltaic installations. The electricity will be sold to the public distribution network by future partners, SNCF Gares and Connexions said.
